Gisteren ben ik verder gegaan met het metaal experiment, na het aanbrengen van de glasverf moest het metaal opgeschuurd worden. Aangezien ik alleen witte en lila glasverf had, zie je er niet echt veel van. Even twijfelde ik nog of ik mijn nieuwe machine er wel voor zou gebruiken. Ik ben toch altijd bang dat het te scherp is en ik iets beschadig. Ik ben eerst met een aantal ATC’s begonnen, maar dat is een beetje vastgelopen. (moet ik nog eens naar kijken) Daarna heb ik het grote stuk metaal gebruikt in dit kleine quiltje. Ik heb er een sheet overheen gestikt, en het geheel op een lapje geverfd vilt gestikt. De ondergrond is een stuk quilt. Deze quilt heb ik ooit eens gemaakt, hij bestond uit drie panelen maar kwam op een gegeven moment vast te zitten. Dus een aantal jaar geleden heb ik het uit elkaar gehaald voor de quilt: Native Instinct. Ik heb er nog steeds een aantal stukken van liggen, die komen zo nu en dan goed van pas.

I doubted a while if I should use my new sewing machine for it. I am always afraid that the metal is to sharp for the machine and will damage things. I started with some ATC’s first, but there I stranded (I have to have a second look at it) after that I used the big piece of metal to make this little quilt. I stitched a sheet over the metal, and stitched the whole thing over a piece of painted felt. The background is a piece of a quilt I made a couple of years ago. It contained three panels, but at a certain moment it stranded also. So two years I cut the quilt into pieces and used one part for the quilt: Native Instinct. I still have a couple of pieces of the quilt, and they come very handy now and than.

An acquaintance of mine told me once that if a person collects things intuitively he/she will almost always have what on hand what is needed. Funny, I think she's correct.
I've found this to be so in framing too. Often there's a certain mat board that will always look perfect with an artist's work...no matter what....it suits the palette.
Therefore, it isn't a surprise that your cut, older quilt will work with new pieces. It really does look perfect. It looks like you made every part at the same time because they go so well together. This piece is quite beautiful. I also admire how you are instantly able to assimilate new ideas and techniques into finished pieces. Outstanding!
