Cards

These are some of the cards I made last week, yesterday I had really a terrible day. I was in so much pain, couldn't do anything. I have to keep up till Thursday, then I can go to the chiropractor. I hope this man is a magician, this is taking far too long.

Book

Keuzes maken……..

Slowly I am getting on track again, this weekend I have managed to make up some arrears. (including a lot of domestic jobs) which gives more rest. Next Thursday I can finally go to the chiropractor, I’ll hope he can help me because I am still living on painkillers. I do go to my work (with a lot of breaks in between) but that means that I can’t do much anymore when I come home except finding variety and not do the same moves over and over again. Yesterday I finally finished my last book. I am anxious to start a new one but I still haven’t finished my India journal.
Choices.....

More cards

Just some more postcards and there will be a lot more:-)
Laura from Trapsuutjies, Annette, Hella and I are organizing a Textile Event together with the city of Essen to benefit the Chris Hani crèche in South Africa. The credit goes to Laura, because it was her idea. She did most of the work and contacted the city of Essen. We opened a new blog together where you can find all the info.
www.colours-of-africa.blogspot.com At the moment it is only written in Dutch but soon it will be in English too. We all need your help for this event. We ask everyone to make a little textile work Size A 4, it may be in all kinds of techniques, as long as it is flexible. From the A 4 works that we receive we are going to make one or more art works that are going to be put up for auction, be to the benefit of the childeren from the Chris Hani creche . So you don’t get your own A 4 back, instead of that you receive a little present like one of the AMC's. For us a lot of work, but we love to do this. So please join us, together we could make something beautiful from this event and help this little children.

ATC's and postcards

This week I managed to make some ATC’s and postcards thanks to my knee siphon. By using it in the right way I could even operate with one arm! Now, I do have a sewing machine that keeps very steady on it’s course, so I don’t have to correct a lot, which is comfortable. I use all fabric that is left from demonstrations with Trapsuutjies. Little by little I am using up all my dyed and painted fabric, it is time for the Summer so I can do some fabric dyeing again :-)

Thanks!

Thanks again for all the lovely mail I received, it’s really appreciated. I am trying to catch up blogging again. Although less often, because I can’t work that long. Tuesday I went to Annette to do some of the preparations on our workshops. You find a little peek here. There are still some places available, you can find the info on www.Trapsuutjies.com. Lessons are good to attend, if necessary, we speak German and English too.

Experiments

Some of the experiments that I painted last week. They are all painted with silk paint. I am started to get grumpy now that I can't work every day. Now that the dokter told me that it is part my back that causes the trouble, I'll know that it will take more time than I hoped for, and I have so much work to do....

Update

Before the pain in my shoulder started I was busy with these mixed media pieces. They are very hard to photograph because they are framed after glass. I tried it several times but each time you saw me reflected in the glass. These are the best pictures. In the mean time I am still on pain killers, I can move my arm a little bit better but the pain isn't gone. The doctor thinks that it is caused by my back, so she won't inject anymore. I have to go to a chiropractor. I'll couldn't reach him at the moment, so I'll hope it will be soon. Thank you all so much for your kind comments, I really appriciate it. I did a little bit sewing this week, but I can't sew very long. Painting is easier because I still have my right arm that I can use. I'll post my experiments this week.

Keeping quiet

Well for everyone who wonders why I didn’t write for a couple of days. The flu is over but I kept a bad pain in my shoulder all the time. I first thought it was muscular pain caused by the flu. I went to the doctor and it turned out to be a infection of the bursa (slijmbeursontsteking)
I have to keep quiet for a week, with heavy painkillers and when it is not over on Friday they are going to inject the shoulder. So I am writing this with my good hand, only in English because it takes to long. Sorry if I don’t answer you personally…As soon as the pain is less I’ll try to blog again and in the mean time I am trying to find something creative that I can do with one arm, any suggestions :-( …….?

The flu and post cards

bleach on velvet

Monday I wanted to work for a while but I have some kind of changeable flu that won’t go away. So I went to bed at 19.30 hour. In the morning I was dragging myself into the shower and to work but the moment that I come home I am exhausted and have no desire for work. Yesterday evening I did start with the box with post cards though, something that I don’t have to think about. Tonight I go to bed early and tomorrow I’ll go to the doctor first.

New Book??????

Werk genoeg! Heerlijk!!

Yesterday I was searching for material for the new book and came across a couple of old embroidery works. Such a shame that they are just in a box. So I got the idea to make also a white on white fabric book of them. The first idea isn’t even finished and the next idea is already there and didn’t I say last year that I also wanted to make a vintage book too? My head is bursting from all the ideas…I also came across a box with post cards that needs finishing. So much work! I love it!

Gent, Belgium

Yesterday was the first day in a long time that Arend and I both had the dame day off. Arend had to work during all the holidays too. So we decided to take a city trip to Gand, Belgium. From where we live it is only one hour and a half driving. We decided to take the bus though, very convenient, cheap and no parking problems. I never been to Gand myself, only passing through. What a beautiful old city centre has Gand, very surprising. Alhough it was 5 degrees below zero; in the afternoon the sun was shining and it felt good. We’ve been to a street where you could find one painters store after the other, I really enjoyed myself and it is sure highly recommended. I enjoy taking pictures more and more and I am getting to know my camera better. The only disadvantage is that it distorts a bit, especially in small streets when you are too close. Like when we came across this little store "the Fallen Angels" The store sold all kinds of vintage cards and pictures, inside you find a lot of collections, so nice to look around. Though the picture was not good when I downloaded it this morning, not what I had in mind....
