Vandaag heb ik de Kunstschouw Westerschouwen gelopen. Deze wordt ieder jaar bij ons in Zeeland georganiseerd en is één van de mooiste kunstroutes in Nederland. Het weer was geweldig, wat ook maar goed is want een hoop van de kunst is buiten te doen. Voor mij geldt dat het een manier is om mijn hoofd weer even leeg te maken, even alle stof en draadjes eruit, en andere kunstvormen er in laten. Met sommige dingen heb ik helemaal niets, andere objecten brengen weer nieuwe ideeën en de vraag: Kan ik dit omzetten in textiel? Wat kan dit voor invloed hebben op mijn eigen werk? Een textiel tentoonstelling kan dit gevoel ook oproepen alleen bestaat dan het gevaar dat je vergeet dat je het gezien hebt, en het soms onbewust als je eigen idee gaat zien. Als er iets is waar ik een hekel aan heb is gewoonweg iemand imiteren, ik wil mijn eigen kunst maken. Dus loop ik met andere ogen hier door heen. Als ik iets heel erg mooi vind koop ik het liever dan te proberen het na te maken (terwijl dat soms niet eens moeilijk is) Iemands eigen ontwerp is in mijn ogen uniek en als ik iets van foto’s van andere kunst op mijn blog zet zal ik ook altijd de naam erbij vermelden (tenzij ik echt niet weet wie het gemaakt heb) Ere wie ere toekomt!

Today I walked the Kunstschouw Westerschouwen. This large exhibition is held every year in my area Zeeland and in one of Holland’s best! The weather was very nice, thank goodness, because a lot of the art is outside in the gardens. To me, it is a way to empty my head from dust/ fabric and treads and let other forms of art in. Some of things mean nothing to me, other objects bring me new ideas and also the question: Can I translate this in textile? What can be the influence on my own work, where does it fit in? A textile exhibition also can bring you this feeling but the danger is in the fact that you sometimes forget seeing it, and unconscious in the long time could see it as you’re own idea. If there is something I hate, it is just copying someone, I want to make my own art. So I walk there with a different view. When I fancy something very bad I rather sell it that try to copy it. (while sometimes it isn’t hard at all) Someone’s own design is unique in my eyes and if I do put some pictures on my blog from art that I didn’t make myself I will always put the name of the artist there. (unless I really don’t know who made it) Honour to whom honour is due!
