flat surface

A very different approach this time, I still didn’t take the time to order new tyvec. So this time I took a flowered designed fabric as background, one layer of angel wire and four different coloured layers of organza, from light to dark. I stitched on the design background, following the lines of the flowers and leaves. I don’t like blue as a single colour but in combination with brown or terra I like it very much. So I put the blue on the bottom. After that I started melting the organza, on the other site. With four layers of organza you have to be very careful with the heat gun, organza melts very well so you see the background very quick. I start with following the leaf shape with my heat gun but it wasn’t what I had in mind. The colour was too dull. With a gold marker I followed the shape of the leafs. The first two where beautiful so I did all the leaves but when I was finished I didn’t liked the result at all. In that case I usually take the piece and turn it in all directions, to see what I can do with it. I rolled up the piece, like I did before with my vessels and it turned out very surprising. The surface becomes a lot smaller and more interesting to look at because part of it is hidden. Especially when you turn it around. Still remains the question: What am I gonna do with it? What do you think?

I like it - they remind me of fossils. Perhaps you could make a scroll since you like it rolled up?
I like these very much, Jacqueline, The colours are stunning! I agree with you on how they work well rolled up, when I first saw them I thought they were book spines, so maybe something along those lines might work.
Glad you liked the photos, I enjoyed that session very much, it was a treat to get out into the fresh air!
Hi Jacqueline - I have just done some catch up reading on your blog - as always, a wonderful selection of art received and art made by you. I love all your experiments and think you are being too "hard" on that last piece - I think it is wonderful, so textural!
A fabulous piece Jacqueline and I agree that you are being a bit hard on yourself, love all your other experiments as well.
Rolled or unrolled it is still a very textural piece. A scroll sounds a wonderful idea. I'm sure you will come up with something special
