Yesterday evening I was playing with my heat gun. I have melted a couple of materials together, acryl felt, polyester fleece and sheets. I am designing a larger quilt and I wanted to try some techniques on some small pieces. These are the first two pieces. Where I am particular curious about was: how far could I go with melting the very thick sheet and the plastic coated hologram paper. Both didn’t melt very well but became very soft by the heating and could easily be stamped. I also melted some embossing powder on it. On the hologram paper I melted some polyester fleece and I also melted the borders from acryl felt. It is almost like lace, I like this effect very much although you have to be very careful not to melt it too much. I have three more test pieces before I work on the larger quilt, than I will decide what to do with it. What I am gonna do with the test pieces I don’t know yet, I made some hangings from it because it is easier to store but maybe I make a book of it.

That was a very successful experiment. I can't wait to see your large quilt when you have finished it.
Hi Jacqueline
These experiments look very exciting. I like the hologram paper particularly. It seems to give a good balance to the black as do the red cross stitches in the top one. I like the plastic over the gold on this one, can't wait to see what you do next.
These have turned out well, especially the one with the hologram paper - a great idea.
Have you tried machine stitching on the acrylic felt before using the heat gun. This gives you a more controlled lacy pattern if that is the effect you wanted.
The look very interesting and I was going to suggest what Lynda has said but she beat me to it.
Love your experiments! These are looking so brilliant!
Schön geworden, deine neuen Experimente!
Gruß
Waltraud
