Stamps

Do you remember these stamps? I bought them in the Africa museum en some of them on the flee market. Unfortunately, they don’t work very well with ink, I almost though I bought a bad buy. The African stamps is not a problem, I like them as decoration. Tomorrow I had just a little time to do something. Because my work table was already standing downstairs from the dinner party, this was a perfect change to use this stamps with screen print paint. This is the result. These fabric was actually my test fabric but I like the effect from all the stamps together so maybe I am gonna use it anyway. The African stamps stay as a decoration probably because they are a bit ball (they are made of coconut) so they are difficult to use.

Hi!
I have some of these "difficult" stamps too. I've put velvet over them and ironed. The nap gets crushed and burnt where the stamp is. I've also used oil sticks and made rubbings. The design isn't "clear" and "perfect" but I liked the results.

Well, I'm off to the studio now. Reading your blog has been an inspirational way to begin the day!

Hi Jacqueline - Your dinner party food looks wonderful. I don't have any of these sorts of stamps but I imagine they are meant to be imperfect in their image transfer - I think that looks especially nice on fabric where there are multiple layers of "markings". Have you tried them with paint? I like Susan's idea of the velvet - it works well with rubber stamps and these images are nice and bold so it should look terrific.

P.S. Sorry, that was me that deleted the above comment.
