Back home

Weer thuis, het was een leuke beurs maar het was slecht weer en heel koud daardoor waren er minder bezoekers als anders. Hierbij een impressie...

Back home again, it was a lovely show but the weather was really bad and it was so cold, thats why there where n't so many visitors like useal. Here is an impression...

Hot foil pen

Sorry dat ik zo'n slechte blog vriendin ben op het ogenblik.....Ik ben ontzettend druk bezig met de voorbereidingen voor de demonstraties in Vijfhuizen. We hebben slechts nog een week en ik wil toch nog wat nieuw werk afhebben. Ik hoop dat het heel druk wordt en gezellig uiteraard. Twee jaar geleden (!) kocht ik een hotfoil pen die nog steeds in de verpakking zat. Nu heb ik een map gemaakt voor Vijfhuizen om klein werk in te doen en deze map had echt nog een beetje goud nodig, dus toch die pen maar eens proberen. Nu ben ik gewend om met vellen folie te werken en daar moet je toch wel enigszins tijd voor nemen, dus ik had de pen op het folie gehouden en kreeg het idee dat er maar niks gebeurde. Je zag niets aan het folie, dus op een gegeven moment besloot ik om het er maar af te halen. Tot mijn verrassing zat er een hele mooie delicate lijn onder, zachter van kleur dan met strijken. Nu had ik voor deze map wel iets meer goud gewild maar het opent wel perspectief!

I am sorry that I am such a bad blogfriend at the moment. ....I am really busy with the preparations for Vijfhuizen. We only have a week left and I want to finish some new work. I'll hope that it is going to be a great show. Two years ago (!) I bought a hot foil pen that is stil in his box. I made adisplaymap for Vijfhuizen to put in some small work and this map needed some gold, so I decided to use the hot foil pen. Now I am used to work with foil and you have to take some time for it, so I added the pen on the foil and waited. I only got the feeling that nothing happend, the foil still looked the same. So I took the foil off and to my surprise, there was this really delicate fine line off gold underneath. The colour was softer than when you add it with an iron. For this map I wanted more gold actually but it is a really good thing to experiment with!

Work, work, work

Wat ik allemaal aan het doen ben op het moment? Teveel om op te noemen eigenlijk, een aantal nieuwe doosjes, verschillende quiltwerkjes, voorbereidingen voor Vijfhuizen waar we weer gaan demonstreren.....enz. enz. oh ja in in de tussentijd ook nog twee examens gehaald!

What I am doing at the moment? Actually too much at the same time, I made a few new boxes, done some quilting , preparing for Vijfhuizen, that is a show where we are demonstrating again and in the mean while I made two exams for work!

Examples

Dit jaar ben ik goed van start gegaan, ik ben eindelijk alle proefstukken die ik gemaakt heb eens gaan verzamelen. Ik heb ze nu op kaarten geplakt en omschreven om welk materiaal/ experiment het gaat. Hier na wil ik er een naslagwerk van gaan maken.

This year I finally started right, I took all the examples I made and I am busy organizing them. I added them to a card and wrote on it which material/ experiment it contains. After that I want to make an out of it

Adding layers

This piece was in a colour that I didn't like, so yesterday I tried to find a colour that I liked more. I think I added almost 4 layers of paint before I thought it was enough. Today I am doubthing again, maybe I will add just one more layer of paint......??? The piece is called : Frost.

FOR MYSELF I"LL HOPE THAT 2012 IS A REALLY CREATIVE YEAR, AND I AM REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO A FRESH START.....

Birmingham

I made this piece for Birmingham, it is called Strata. It s made of lutrador, slashed and burned.

When we came back I found the piece really dull and this week I painted the burned edges with an aqua paint. I am not finished yet and I am also not sure I didn't ruin it eigther :-)

Leftover

Ik had van het thema Transitions,
nog een flink stuk van de blauwe zeefdruk over. Deze heb ik in een aantal
kleine stukken geknipt en ben ze aan het borduren.
Volgens mij hebben jullie de grote
werken nog niet eens gezien maar daar is het nu te donker voor, ik zal ze dit
weekend eens bij daglicht op de foto zetten.

I had a big leftover from the
screenprint I made for Transitions. I have cut the fabric in some little pieces
and I am busy to embroider them.
I think you haven't seen the large
pieces yet but it is too dark to make some pictures now.
I will try to potograph them this
weekend

Box

Alweer een doosje klaar, momenteel gaan de doosjes harder dan de boeken die er eigenlijk in zouden moeten :-) Ik zal binnenkort toch echt weer eens achter mijn naaimachine moeten gaan zitten, al was het alleen maar om al geverfde stoffen verder te verwerken...

Another box finished, at the moment the boxes are going faster than the books that are suppoosed to be inside:-) One of these days I really have to do some sewing, also because I have to embroider al these hadprinted fabrics.....

I am working every day again, just for an hour or so but I am really getting my spirit back!!! Look at the pictures, I am so glad that I am finally getting some work done. Thanks to Laura and Annette, they inspired me to paint, paint and paint............
